Lyric Whetsone only had eyes for Quinn Sobel’s brother Oliver, until a car crash took Oliver’s life on New Year’s Eve. Then, a moment of shared grief between Quinn and Lyric became something more impassioned, something that frightened Quinn so much he ran from Lyric’s bed and her life, disappearing for four long years.
Now Quinn’s back for another New Year’s Eve, struggling for closure, desperate to leave his grief in the past and make amends with the girl of his dreams.
But Lyric has a secret–one that could drive Quinn from her life forever. Will Quinn run away from the love and acceptance he’s always wanted…or will he claim his New Year’s kiss and make her his at midnight
I loved this book for me it was an emotional rollercoaster. I loved who Lyric is because she reminds me of well my self. She felt this fear over a secret she had been carrying around for four long years and the man who the secret would affect. That reminded me of a not so different situation I had faced myself. Then Quinn is just sexy in that loner kind of way. When I say this I mean it simply like this he is sexy then he has this wall he built up like a lot of people do when they experience any kind of great loss. Quinn and Lyric are quite a pair when it comes to love. Quinn had been in love with Lyric since they were seven years old. Lyric had been infatuated with Quinn’s twin brother Oliver since they were seven simply because he wasnt a jerk. They had a typical childhood crush situation going on they just chose to never grow out of it until they were well into adulthood. I found it heart warming that Quinn came back home to finally apologize to the person he thought he hurt the most. He wanted to make things right and that was a beautiful thing to me. I loved that even though there were secrets and lies between the two of them. They were finally able to get past them and become a couple that they deserved to be. They were finally able to let go of the past and start a feature together. For me this was a great quick read I recommend it to anyone who loves a good romance. I give it a 5 out of 5.

Description of the Book:
“I’ve left some clues for you.
If you want them, turn the page.
If you don’t, put the book back on the shelf, please.”
So begins the latest whirlwind romance from the New York Times bestselling authors of Nick & Norah’s Infinite Playlist. Lily has left a red notebook full of challenges on a favorite bookstore shelf, waiting for just the right guy to come along and accept its dares. But is Dash that right guy? Or are Dash and Lily only destined to trade dares, dreams, and desires in the notebook they pass back and forth at locations across New York? Could their in-person selves possibly connect as well as their notebook versions? Or will they be a comic mismatch of disastrous proportions?
Co-written by Rachel Cohn and David Levithan, co-author of WILL GRAYSON, WILL GRAYSON with John Green (LET IT SNOW, THE FAULT IN OUR STARS), DASH & LILY’S BOOK OF DARES is a love story that will have readers perusing bookstore shelves, looking and longing for a love (and a red notebook) of their own.

I love this story. It was written sweetly and quirky. Te whole thing brings you into this amazing book of dares. (obviously hence the title) I love that they found each other so randomly all because of a notebook. I love the thought that they are a mystery to each other. This is a short yet sweet story about finding the possible right one in a world full of so many people who don’t fit with you. It has laughter and good old-fashioned romance. I love the way Lily’s family is with her especially great-aunt Ida. I would like to believe that I would be the same way with my nieces and nephews. I know I will be that way with my children wanting someone who could see the unique parts about them and fall in love with that. I love that Dash who is so different from Lily finds himself reviling things about himself that he could not say before just like Lily. This whole book was just written flawlessly. It makes you want to fall in love with the idea of love. The moment where you can see reality for what it is and fantasy as it is. That is what this book is it takes the dream guy or girl in a person’s head and makes them seem a little more attainable but also that they may not be out there but there is someone who will make you feel like your perfect the way you are. This is a great contemporary romance novel for people of any age well not an elementary school aged kid due to the fact that well there is the occasional curse word. I do recommend this book to anyone who enjoys contemporary fiction and loves a bit of romance.
Quote(s) I Love:
“But whether or not you are here, you are here because these words are for you, and they wouldn’t exist if you weren’t here in some way.”
“You have to trust the words. They do not create anything more than themselves.”
“With all due respect, if you’re forty-three, then I’m a fetus.”
“The universe doesn’t decide what’s right or not right. You do.”
“Things change all the time, mostly in little ways. That’s how it goes, I guess.”
“You bookish little pervert.”
“It’s only a game if there is an absence of meaning. And we’ve already gone too far for that.”
This was my first Rachel Cohn & David Levithen Novel. I am so reading Nick & Nora next 🙂

Ok so this book was just wow. Violet is a whole new person. Shes started to hunt exiles with Lincoln. She is keeping well I should say trying to keep her emotions in check for him. Things start to get more intense with the return of Phoenix who happens to be back with a vengeance. Lincoln is on a vendetta thanks to Magda while the whole world is falling apart leaving violet feeling powerless. I love Violet she is one of my favorite female leads. She was once a victim then decided that she wasn’t going to be that girl. I love how even when she’s afraid she is willing to stick it out. She is willing to fight for the people she loves. The thing I don’t like about violet is that she doesn’t have the will to truly fight for herself. I know your probably wondering what I mean by this. My thought is that she will take the world on for any one but when it comes to really looking into her soul doing the search that needs to be done. She chooses to do nothing. She cant face what is breaking her heart she cant say what needs to be said. In a ways she reminds me of the song say by John Mayer. She is this amazing person that could be great but she is always fighting herself. She is just a lost girl. That is what I think when I think of Violet she is a great as a warrior but she is broken. Jessica Shirvington is talented as a writer. I love reading this series it shows an amazing world that no one would ever see. It is a great read that I would recommend to anyone who loves a good angel book. Though I don’t really think of it as an angel book.

Description of the Book:
Pre-Read:The name caught my attention honestly.
While Reading: Ms. Shepherd is my Hero!
Overall Thoughts: So I found this to be a book that makes you think. Like really think. It also makes an impression. Well at least it did on me. This is a story about a girl who grew up and church and is shunned for doing something that she believed was right. She wanted to help someone who she thought her friends had wrong. Not knowing that things would be blown out of proportion. Then the same people who shun her start a stupid protest against evolution. She slowly develops a relationship with her lab partner who helps her see the world differently. Slowly she starts to believe in her self and comes to a point were shes able to handle the world with her beliefs and integrity in tack. That’s not always an easy thing for a person especially when you’re a kid at 14 trying to deal with your world falling apart. I know at that age I was going along with what my friends said and nothing else. I wish I could have been more like Mena the main character.
So what I love about this book being that I was raised in a christian home is the following thing. It calls people on stuff that they don’t normally want to talk about. Like faith, how science fits in with the whole god thing. I wish I could have read this book when I was in Jr. High. The whole time I was reading it I was like wow I never thought of things that way. See I grew up the same way as the main person. That witch craft ect. was not right and of god. The thing though is the following I was also raised to make my own choices and have my own beliefs. My parents taught me young that if you believe in something than I should stand up for that. Though that was not always the case with me at a young and sometimes I still don’t. That’s what you see with Mena. She still believes in god but she also believes in evolution. That according to her old group of friends of friends is not right. So slowly while she is going through the motions. Before I read this book I never thought that there would be things about evolution in the bible for one. That I think is what made me keep reading. Also the Science teacher Ms. Shepherd. She is an inspiration. She stood up and said that what she believes and what she is supposed to be teaching are to separate things which makes me admire her. The thing i took from this is the following that sometimes doing the right thing is hard. Also even people with the best intentions at heart tend to do more harm than good. Also just because you believe one thing doesn’t mean its your job to force the whole world to see things your way. Which takes me back to how I was raised. People will have different opinions and not always agree it’s a fact of life. That is what we have free will to make choices and try to do the best we can with what we got. I truly enjoyed this book because it kind of close to home with me. It is a good read in my opinion. I think if you have a chance to pick it up you should.
Rating: I Give it a 5 out of 5.
Quote(s) I Love:
“Because I’m not on their side and they’re not on mine. Their side wants me to pretend the facts are not what they are. Intelligent design is not science. In fact, it’s hostile to science—it tells people not to believe what science has proven to be true. And at a time like this, we need more young people like you to pursue science as a career so you can tell us all the things we don’t know yet. I can’t allow anyone to discourage that.” (pp. 259-260).
