My Thoughts:

Over all Thoughts of the Series

So in december of 2013 my children and I discovered Lunch Lady and the breakfast bunch. She is an amazing super hero. They are just your average everyday people. Three kids and your everyday lunch lady. Then that’s when you see it that she is far from normal she is a hero. Then you have three kids who go above and beyond to help save the school they go to. I loved reading this series just as much as my kids enjoyed having the books read to them. I loved the breakfast bunch simply because they remind me  of your average kids who do the opposite of what they are supposed to do. I love her sidekick Betty so much because she’s so creative with the gadgets she comes up with for Lunch Lady. This series leaves anyone of any age laughing and wanting to read more. This is an amazing series for anyone of any age.

Title: Lunch Lady & The Cyborg Substitute

Goodreads/Amazon/B & N

About Book:

Serving justice . . . and lunch!

Hector, Terrence, and Dee have always wondered about their school lunch lady. What does she do when she isn’t dishing out the daily special? Where does she live? Does she have a lot of cats at home? Little do they know, Lunch Lady doesn’t just serve sloppy joes—she serves justice! Whatever danger lies ahead, it’s no match for LUNCH LADY!

My Thoughts: The first book in the Lunch Lady is a real eye catcher. I am not saying this simply because of the art work. I love the art work but seeing the title catches your eye. I loved it from the moment I read the first page. I enjoyed it even more when my kids faces lit up from hearing Lunch Lady saving the day from the evil substitute. It was amazing to see her passion for saving the kids of Thompson Brook. It was her super hero ways that made me excited to read the next book in this series. Lunch Lady and The League of Librarians.

Title: Lunch Lady and The League of Librarians

Goodreads/Amazon/B & N

About Book:

Serving justice . . . and lunch!

Lunch Lady can sniff out something rotten like no one else—and there’s definitely something rotten going on in the library. The usually friendly librarians have become cold and secretive. Even Dee can’t seem to crack a smile out of them. What darkness may lurk in the hearts of librarians? Lunch Lady is on the case! And Hector, Terrence, and Dee are along for a wild ride!

My Thoughts:

The second book was a great addition to the series. The last person I would think to be evil is a librarian let alone a league of them. Then when you learn of their plot. I was shocked. I mean reading is a must in my world but sadly I am a lover of video games as well so the thought that a group of people would destroy them. Simply because I am a fan of both. This book was great especially when Lunch Lady and the breakfast Bunch were able to find away to bring both together. This book just like the first made me happy to continue the series to move on to book 3.

Title:Lunch Lady and The Author Visit Vendetta

Goodreads/Amazon/B & N

About Book:

Dee, Terrence, and Hector are very excited about Author Visit Day. Lewis Scribson is the author of the famous Flippy Bunny books, and Hector is a huge fan! And it gets Dee and Terrence out of math class.

But something is a little off about this special guest. And Coach Birkby, the gym teacher, mysteriously disappears the day of his visit.

What evil designs does this world-famous writer have on his agenda? Lunch Lady’s going to get to the bottom of it, even if she has to kick some bunny butt!

My Thoughts:

This one kept my children in a state of fascination. Seeing the Breakfast Bunch in another adventure with their favorite Lunch Lady. It did the same for me. This Book covers the theme of Bullying and what kind of damage it can cause in a new exciting way. You learn about an author who wasn’t picked on your typical verity of bully. He was bullied by his gym teacher and how does he get revenge you ask by kidnapping gym teachers from across the country.  I know what your thinking an author kidnapping gym teachers but it does happen at least in Lunch Lady. The wonderful thing is Lunch Lady and the Breakfast Bunch are there to save the day. The reason I loved this is because it shows the long-term effects that bullying can have on some people. The torment it can have cause kids into Adulthood. I enjoyed this one the most out of the first three because it shows something important to kids about what bullying can do to people. It also shows three kids who see that they don’t have to do negative things and can choose to do positive things. Then came book 4.

Title: Lunch Lady and The Summer Camp Shakedown

Goodreads/Amazon/B & N

About Book:

Lunch Lady and the Breakfast Bunch kids are looking forward to a relaxing summer vacation with no funny business. What evils could befall them at summer camp?

Of course, there is the legendary swamp monster. Stories say he haunts the camp at night. But that’s just a legend. Or is it?

Once again, Dee, Hector, and Terrence must help Lunch Lady prevail against a secret enemy!

My Thoughts:

For me book 4 didn’t make as much of an impression as the first three did. My kids loved it though because of the lake monster. The Monster who is green with jealousy. Which is what this book is about. It is about a kid who doesn’t like that other kids are paying less attention to him.  That is a theme that works wonderfully with my kids because I have always tried to keep them well-rounded. and be happy with what they have. I have tried to teach them to be accepting of people who are different from them. That is what this book showed me. This book shows that a situation when you are faced with being envious of people. That was a great thing for me to see in a children’s book because it is something that inforced what I try to teach my children on a daily basis. Then book 5 came and well….

Title: Lunch Lady & The Bake Sale Bandit

Goodreads/Amazon/B & N

About Book:

The Breakfast Bunch is excited for the upcoming bake sale—and the best part is that it’s raising money for an awesome field trip.  But when all the snacks go missing, it’s no laughing matter.  Someone is sabotaging the bake sale.  But why?

Lunch Lady and the Breakfast Bunch are hot on the trail . . . one brownie crumb at a time.

(Source: Goodreads)

My Thoughts:

The bake sale bandit was one that had a lot of mystery. This one wasn’t predictable at all. I mean you have so many suspects. I truly believed the janitor did it. Then you find out who did and ou think wow that was not the person I suspected. I honestly thought wow this person is crazy well at least they are not in the right state of mind. This one I loved because of the mystery. My son would tell you in his five-year old talk. “Oh Wow it has a dinosaur!” This book was a great addition to the series. Then it lead perfectly into book 6….

Title: Lunch Lady And The Field Trip Fiasco

Goodreads/Amazon/B & N

About Book:

Lunch Lady and the Breakfast Bunch are on a school field trip to a famous art museum. But while Lunch Lady is busy taking in all the culture, the kids have caught onto something strange—some of the artwork looks suspiciously fake! Now Dee, Hector, and Terrence are determined to get to the bottom of this conspiracy, but Lunch Lady is too awed to catch on.  Will she snap out of it and come to the rescue? Or will the Breakfast Bunch have to handle this operation alone?

(Source: Goodreads)

My Thoughts:

This one was my favorite out of the series. I loved this one simply because it covers in a way what being a fraud means. I think that is a great subject to cover as a parent. Especially as some one who enjoys art. For me seeing someone try to make forgeries of art its like making a mockery of it. I loved that this book also showed off Lunch Lady;s knowledge of the arts. It was nice to see her as more than a superhero and Lunch Lady. I loved that she knew about other things and was happy to share that knowledge with the kids of Thompson Brook. It also was great to see her once again she was able to save the day. What was not that awesome was the punishment for the Breakfast Bunch.

My Thoughts:

I must admit this book made being a mathlete seem like it has the potential to look and be cool. I loved that this book showed that being intelligent is something that should be celebrated and shown off to the world. I mean when I was a kid I loved maths but I never let anyone know I loved it. I thought it made me a “geek”.  This book shows that being smart doing “nerdy” things can be fun no matter what other people think about you or so. I think that’s why i love the Breakfast Bunch. They don’t let the kid who try to bully them get them down they continue to do things they love and enjoy.

My Thoughts: This book wasnt as exciting to me as the others for me. I mean it was a good one but not as great as the others for me. My daughter loved it and she told me she was going to be a super hero just like Lunch Lady that was the best part of reading this book for me.

My Thoughts:

This book was the most surprising to me. I was just shocked  talk about a cliffhanger. I mean I was shocked  that they went through so many amazing adventures then Boom! Your left with a cliff hanger! This book made me appreciate the fact that hector mad a sacrifice. He gave up his chance to become the school president. That was my favorite part in this book. This was a great addition to this series.

Final Thoughts

This is a great book series to read with your kids if you have them or just pick up to enjoy.
