About Book:
An angry rebel, John dropped out of school and enlisted in the Army, not knowing what else to do with his life–until he meets the girl of his dreams, Savannah. Their mutual attraction quickly grows into the kind of love that leaves Savannah waiting for John to finish his tour of duty, and John wanting to settle down with the woman who captured his heart. But 9/11 changes everything. John feels it is his duty to re-enlist. And sadly, the long separation finds Savannah falling in love with someone else. “Dear John,” the letter read…and with those two words, a heart was broken and two lives were changed forever. Returning home, John must come to grips with the fact that Savannah, now married, is still his true love–and face the hardest decision of his life.

My Thoughts:
“I finally understood what true love meant…love meant that you care for another person’s happiness more than your own, no matter how painful the choices you face might be.”
So I am not a girl who enjoys romance as much as most but this book made me love the thought of being in love. When I say that I mean true love. This novel for me was about what real love is. John finding a woman who changed him who helped him become the man he was ment to be. He amazed me. They way he went from someone who was angry to someone filled with understanding. The way he let Savannah’s Love help him grow was beautiful. The best part of this story for me was the ending. This was a story og heart ache and unconditional love. I honestly found myself fighting the tears that stung my eyes constantly. I found myself falling in love with John and felt my heart-break when his broke. I was amazed at what he was willing to sacrifice for Savannah and her happiness. Then when he went and did the one thing I never thought anyone would do to the one person they loved more than life He let her go. That for me was beautiful and I don’t know how many more times I can say that this was a beautiful story. This was the first book by Nicholas Sparks that I have read well listened to since I did listen to it in audiobook format. This story had a great narrator, Holter Graham, made John sound exactly how I would picture a southern boy sounding. This book now holds a place in my heart. Nicholas Sparks is an amazing writer and makes it so you enjoy hearing about romantic things. This is a book for the romantics and non-romantics aka me. I hope that any who has yet to read this book reads it. I am now a fan of Nicholas Sparks. I am super excited to read The Best of Me by him next and review it.
